DIY LACE COLLAR SHIRT

lace collar shirt diy laced

One of the beautiful things about having a big family is that you can swap your clothes with the
female part. Now I live with my boyfriend, but before that I used to buy "in common" dresses
and accessories with my two sisters (I have also one brother, but of course he has his own clothes!) or
swap them with my aunts / cousins.
And, the beautiful thing about being the oldest sister is that clothes passed trough me before (haha!).
There are those moments when, one of us, decides to refresh her wardrobe, so puts all the old clothes
a part and it is a joy choosing what you like most (and stop stealing it when the owner is not
at home!).
My sister has recently done her wardrobe rehab and I suddently found some pieces I have
always liked, first of all this nice, simple, blue shirt.
When I got it, I decided to give my personal style, so I run to buy a piece of white lace
and added it to the shirt.
The result is what you see in the photos and, trust me, white lace makes everything more elegant,
delicate and sophisticated.
I hand-sewed the collar, it took me about one hour, but it has been worth!
See how do yours.

You need // Vi occorre:

- An old shirt. // Una vecchia maglietta.
- 1 mt (39 in) of cotton lace. // 1 mt di pizzo di cotone.
- Needle and thread. // Ago e filo.
- Scissors. // Forbici.

How to // Come procedere:

1)
Unsew decorations, if present. // Rimuovete le eventuali applicazioni.

2)
Measure the length of shirt's neckline using the lace, to have an idea about it will be at the end. //

3)
Unsew the seam of one shoulder as much as lace's width and insert about 2 cm (0,7 in) of lace in
the hole you made.

4)
Sew the lace to the shirt, leaving the hole as you did it. // Cucite il pizzo alla maglietta, ma
lasciando ancora il buco come l'avete fatto.

5)
Keep on sewing the lace following shirt's neckline. // Continuate a cucire il pizzo seguendo il
collo della maglietta.

6)
When you arrive to the other side of the hole you made, cut the lace abounding with 2 cm
(0,7 in) again.

7)
Insert the lace in the hole, sewing it to the shirt, then sew the hole to reclose the seam. // Infilate

8)
Voilà! Your shirt is (like) new and ready-to-wear! // Voilà! La vostra maglietta è (come) nuova
e pronta per essere indossata!

When my sister saw it, she regretted a bit her shirt! Have a nice day!
Buona giornata!

  12. A very cool project, Francine! And easy to do - though I would not be able to do 1 h of sewing by hand, I would use a sewing machine :)
That's great you have so many sisters who apparently share your style and fashion taste :) I can see how you guys easily save tons of money :)))

I also love upcycling old stuff and always share these projects in my blog :)
