This doesn't want to be an ultimate
guide to a better life. I'm not a
guide to a better life. I'm not a
psychologist and I'm not here to teach something, just to share what is really
working for me to face the daily routine :)
working for me to face the daily routine :)

1)
"NO" TO TOO MANY COMMITMENTS // "NO" A
TROPPI IMPEGNI
It's obvious that there are things that we simply have to do and for those we can't do so much,
buuut there are also a lot of things that we get as essential but which are not.
We tend to fill up our life with free time actvities that can make us feel satisfied, but
we should ask ourselves "what really makes me happy?" and go for it.
It could be frustrating admitting that we can't do everything, but the fact is
that we can't really do everything. So, focus on "less-but-best" and
divide your weekly commitments so that you can always have at least one day/evening
with no plans, only for yourself.
//
Tendiamo a riempire
chiederci "cosa davvero mi rende felice?" e puntare su quello.
2)
"NO" TO OVER-SOCIALIZED LIFE // "NO" ALLA
VITA TROPPO SOCIAL
I'm especially talking about virtual social life, but it can be good also as a general thing.
Meeting new people is always fun, both on Instagram that in real life, but this
requires time. Time that we shouldn't steal to people we love. In the last two years,
since I've started working after my Economics degree, I understood that time
is so precious and it's so important spendind it with people who really deserve it.
Less but more quality time.
//
3)
"NO" TO TOO MUCH TECHNOLOGY // "NO" ALLA TROPPA TECNOLOGIA
This is a hard point, I know. Technology is a life saver sometimes, but it also makes
us less independent. I'm trying to ban technology from some moments of my day.
For example, reading a book instead of checking my blog/Instagram on evenings.
Meeting a friend once a week for a tea instead of chatting everyday on phone.
Cooking with my hands instead of using robots, writing down my favourite recipes
on a journal, instead of saving them as web bookmarks or Pinterest pins.
Little things that can make us feel again the authenticity of life.
//
via telefono ogni giorno.
4)
"NO" TO OTHERS' (NON REQUIRED) OPINION // "NO"ALL'OPINIONE (NON RICHIESTA) DEGLI ALTRI
There's a big difference between an advice and an opinion given without care.
We are not what people say we are and this should always be focused in our mind.
Others' opinion can be useful to see new things we didn't see before, but
it's our right to put the limit and decide when it's time to stop listening.
Paying less attention is not easy and could seem unkind, but is essential
when someone doesn't talk for our good.
//
5)
"NO" TO EXCUSES // "NO" ALLE SCUSE
Someone said that happiness is on the other side of fear. And laziness, I would add!
Yes, because the most beautiful things require time and efforts and it's in our interest
to fight to get them. Telling ourselves "I can do that tomorrow" or worse "I can't do that"
is not only useless but also self-defeating. The right moment is now and the first step
will be so hard, yes, but once started everything will come easier and waaay more satisfying.
//
Well, that's all. I'd like to know your thoughts, cause, as I said, these are my
personal tips, but I'm more than open to hear your suggestions! Do you
say "no" to something and does it help you to live better? Let me know!
//
Bene, questo è tutto. Mi piacerebbe sapere i vostri pensieri, perché, come ho detto,
Dite "no"
a qualcosa? E vi aiuta a vivere meglio? Fatemi sapere!
xx
I do say no to a lot of things, mainly because of the kids that take up my time, but that made me realize I don't really need that much in my life when it comes to social media and commitments.

DeleteReally lovely post. I find it really difficult to say no (particularly to technology!) and always feel awful doing it so this was a really nice reminder that it's ok.
ReplyDeleteKate || www.katerattley.com
Yes, this "NO" is the hardest, maybe. But also the more important, if we spend too much time with phone, PC, etc :)
DeleteI am constantly trying to stop taking on too many commitments. It's never a good idea as I always end up feeling like a failure when I can't fulfill them all! x
ReplyDelete<a href="http://www.katelouiseblogs.com>Kate Louise Blogs</a>
Yes, this is how I feel too! It is better to do less if time is not enough to do everything, so that we can avoid the failure sensation that hurts us so much.

Amazing tips! It's true that nowadays we're constantly on the internet, on our social media, etc., and to me that's okay, but it is not when you start replacing some quality time with your family or friends because of the internet.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tips, seriously xoxo

I've been trying to say no to tech. It seems to overtake life lately which is sad in hindsight. Not being present is something I'm concerned about
