DIY SATIN TUBE TOP

Who's still at the beach? Lucky you! Really. This Summer, at stake with the renovation of our new house, we haven't had the opportunity to leave for a real vacay. I mean, being at home doing nothing all day is itself a vacay, but you know...the sand, the sea, etc...You got it. Hoping for a weekend away asap, I want to show you a project I made few days ago to spice up my August plans: a satin tube top that's already a favourite in my closet. Cause creativity never goes on holiday! // Chi è ancora in spiaggia? Fortunate voi! Davvero.

When I make fashion DIYs, I usually use fabrics like cotton
or linen, practical, affordable and easy to sew. But, this time, I would make something
more luxurious, to show you (and myself) that even a DIY can reach that expensive/bought factor.
It's all about which fabric you use and this is why I checked Tissura for the most inspiring ones.
Their luxury fabrics are simply amazing and, browsing through their website, I decided to go for satin. The silk satin fabrics section totally got me!
//

***

You Need // Vi occorre:

- A piece of satin. // Del raso.
- Needle and thread. // Ago e filo.
- Scissors. // Forbici.
- Measuring tape. // Metro.

How to // Come procedere:

1)
First, measure your chest circumference just above the breast and the height of your chest.
Cut two pieces of satin with height=your chest height (plus 2 cm) and lenght=the half of the

2)
Sew the hem on the two long sides of both of the satin pieces.

3)
Superimpose the two satin pieces, with the front sides on the inside. Then sew them together,
leaving 1,5 cm from the sides.
rivolte all'interno. Poi cuciteli insieme, lasciando 1,5 cm da entrambi i bordi.

Doing like this the top will be 2 cm larger than your chest. This is because I would
show you an easy DIY without zip or buttons and satin is not as stretchy as cotton, so
you can wear it and breath at the same time :D // Facendo così il vostro top sarà più
indossarlo e respirare allo stesso tempo :D

4)
Turn it and...voila! // Rigiratelo e...voilà!

I love the result, it's elegant and basic at the same time. Something so easy to wear in many occasions (weddings, for example! When we never know what to wear!). I matched it with my favourite silk pants and pink sandals, for a ton sur ton effect. The women's fabrics section on Tissura is
so full of beautiful fabrics that I'll surely find out other inspiring pieces for my future creations!
//

  12. It really looks way more expensive than it actually was, I would have never guessed you made it yourself. Oh, and I am currently on a beach holiday! But I feel your pain, we did the whole house thing last year and while being very stressful it was so worth it in the end.
