DIY SATIN FLOUNCE OFF SHOULDER TOP

satin flounce offshoulder top diy

First, sorry for this long lack of posting, you will see soon why I didn't have
so much time for blogging! Hope you all are fine!
When you think about Summer and those beautiful walkings in the sun, your mind
can't help but thinking also about those bad moments when you have to change
your shirt three times per day (if you are lucky) and that pretty blouse you bought
with the innocence of "maybe there will be fresh air evenings", doesn't look
like a good idea now, with 40 degrees in the shade.
BUT there is always a chance to be pretty and classy in the hot sun, leaving for
a while the trusty tank tops (anyway, always thank you!).
It is the off shoulder top!
Honestly, I love these tops so much, they are so feminine and fresh,
perfect for days and nights, with denim shorts or pencil skirts.
Now we see together how to realize one starting from an old white t-shirt, it
is easy, it is cheap and it will look so bought in a shop!

//

è facile, è economico e sembrerà davvero acquistato in negozio!

***

You need // Vi occorre:

 - An old white t-shirt. // Una vecchia maglietta bianca.
- A rectangular piece of satin, about 80x160 cm (31x62 in). // Un pezzo rettangolare di
raso, circa 80x160 cm.
- 100 cm of elastic band. // 100 cm di elastico.
- Needle and thread. // Ago e filo.
- Pins. // Spilli.
- Scissors. // Forbici.
- Sewing machine if you are lucky or, like me, your beautiful hands.

How to // Come procedere:

1)
Cut your t-shirt following the (invisible) line connecting underarms, fold to create the hem
and keep the shirt apart for later.

 2)
Fold the satin fabric in two on the long side, but not in half, so you will have two flounces;
then fold it again and pin it to create the hem wide enought to let your elastic band
passing through. Now sew the hem, leaving about
10 cm (3,9 in) from the two extremities.
Ora cucite l'orlo, lasciando 10 cm dalle estremità.

 3)
Insert the elastic band in the hem, you can use a trick: pin the band with a safety pin,
it will be easy for you make it pass through the fabric. // Infilate l'elastico nell'orlo,

 4)
Measure the elastic band around your chest (bra line), pin it and carefully take it off
(we don't want you pin yourself!), then sew it. Now sew one of the two open extremities,
to complete the hem of that side.

5)
Fold the other fabric extremity on the first one. // Piegate l'altra estremità
del tessuto sulla prima.

6)
Sew the fold and close the hem. // Cucite la piega e chiudete l'orlo.

 7)
You have almost done! // Ci siete quasi!

8)
Insert the shirt into the top and sew them together, but only the central 20 cm (7,8 in) on the
front and 20 cm (7,8 in) on the back, leaving enough space on the sides for your arms

 9)
Dears (it is incredible!) you have done! // Care (è incredibile!) avete finito!

As you see, I didn't sew the lateral slit, because satin is not so elastic and so
you can move your arms and feel confortable. Hope you enjoyed this post,
let me know what you think about, I always love reading your kind words! Muah! //
Baci!

  19. Thank you for sharing this wonderful DIY so detailed! Fortunately it looks easy enough that even I must be able to do this :) Love the material you have chosen and now I'm thinking honestly to sew such a shirt for me although normally I don't look really good in shoulder free shirts. Instead of you, because for you are such shirts definitely perfect!
