"MIYA" DRAWING

The summer is ending and these hot days are killing my creativity, but I put a stop to this lack of posting showing you the three-phases-birth of one of my favourite drawings.

This beauty is Miya, my boyfriend's dog; she's so sweet and smart! She loves staying on the balcony looking at people/dogs/cats (aaah, cats!) on the street or simply enjoying sun.

In the first phase I draw freehand the contours of the figure, with a very light pencil line (so, if I fail, I can easily correct).

Then, I start colouring the dark parts of the figure and finally I define the background (in this case I used coloured pastels/pencils).

Some small retouch and this is how Miya looks like.

L'estate sta finendo e questi giorni afosi stanno uccidendo la mia creatività, ma voglio porre fine a questa assenza di post mostrandovi la nascita in tre fasi di uno dei miei disegni preferiti.

Questa bellezza è Miya, la cagnolona del mio ragazzo; è davvero dolce e intelligente! Ama starsene sul balcone ad osservare le persone/cani/gatti (aaah, i gatti!) per strada o semplicemente a godersi il sole.

Nella prima fase disegno a mano libera i contorni della figura, con un tratto a matita molto leggero (così se sbaglio posso correggere facilmente).

Poi inizio a colorare le parti scure della figura e infine definisco lo sfondo (in questo caso ho usato pastelli e matite colorate).

Qualche piccolo ritocco e così è come appare Miya.
